JYPS 2011 - Winners Announced

JYPS 2011 Winner - Elijah Israel

This year's Jax Youth Poetry Slam competition that was held on July 20th was everything we hoped it would be and more! To start, founder Toyna Smart organized another warm and engaging experience for all in attendance, and host Taryn Wharwood kept the energy flowing with humor and a sampling of her own speak. In addition, the show was punctuated by a few inspiring open mic performances including one singing sensation. Of course, the highlight of the show centered around 9 young poet performers who where judged by a panel of 5 on a scale of 1-10 with the highest and lowest scores being dropped. In the end, 3 poets ranked first, second, and third place in this competition. The winners will receive personal recording sessions and CD's!!
